CRITICAL RISK MANAGEMENT

Line of Fire

Did you know that effective line of fire management on a construction site can reduce injuries ?

The line of fire concept can be described as positioning one's body, or part of, in danger’s way that is present in one's working environment.

Bringing the line of fire concept into the risk analysis on construction sites is paying off. This concept is easy to apply, effective and does not cost anything, since it only consists of keeping the worker(s) away from dangers present in their work environment.

Some examples of lines of fire on a construction site:

  • A worker who finds himself behind a piece of equipment that is backing up.
  • The hand of a carpenter placed in front of a circular saw while cutting a piece of wood.
  • A steel fitter who uses an angle grinder and hurls sparks at other workers.
  • When lifting a load with a crane, a worker finds himself in the same path as the load where he could be hit by the load.

Workers on a construction site are often exposed to different lines of fire. This exposure can result in potentially serious injury.

Our health and safety personnel are able to assist your workers in order to reduce their exposure to the various lines of fire. The health and safety interactions carried out by our staff with your workers are effective and relevant in order to reduce the risk level present on the site.
